CORRECTION!

A while back, CORD reprinted a letter from a Union Street, retired couple to the Clarett Group, developer of 340 Court Street. Their building had been hit by a Clarett Group back hoe and badly damaged in the process.
In it, the name of a local contractor, James Buscarello, was mentioned by the couple.

CORD has just received a letter from Mr. James Buscarello (Jabus Building Corp) who corrects the information from the first letter as follows:

"There are 2 "Buscarello" contractors working in Brooklyn: James and John. However, they operate completely separate businesses. James operates "Jabus Building Corp". He is not in any way liable for or affiliated with John's company. In addition, he was not even aware of this matter with John on Union street. James and his wife Deborah operate Jabus Building Corp, are long-term residents of Carroll Gardens and are devoted to the welfare of their neighborhood."

CORD HISTORY:

With the "Protect Our Homes" petition, CORD was formed in May, 2007. This petition arose as an overwhelmingly negative response to the coming of the over-sized 360 Smith Street Development at the corner of Smith Street and Second Place (Aka Oliver House; aka 131 Second Place). This petition, which had well over three thousand signatures, led to a new zoning text amendment in summer of 2008.

To: Our Elected Officials, Community Leaders, The MTA:
(MAY, 2007)

We the undersigned Carroll Gardens homeowners and residents, are appalled by the "as of right" ruling which allows owners and developers to erect buildings in our neighborhood with no regard to the impact they will present to our quality of life and the value of our homes........
